In Rememberance

Dad
May 23, 1929 - January 27, 2005

We little knew that morning
That God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly;
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

This picture above is of my dad and his family, circa 1934.  He is the little one on the left with the cheesey grin - he had that grin his whole life.

June 5, 1954.  Still had the grin, and he married such a beautiful lady!

Mom and Dad in Florida, where they retired, on my brother's boat.  This is my all-time favorite photo of the two of them.  It was taken in the early 2000's - not sure of the exact date.  I also have this photo in a keepsake ornament that I disply on "my tree" every year - and I will continue to display it until the day I die.  I mean, look at the smiles on their faces!  Priceless!

My father died of cancer.  He suffered.  Greatly suffered.  I hate that part the most.

Rest in Peace, Daddy.  I think of you EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Love, Patti

  2. This is a lovely tribute. It's so hard to see them go this way. But you have loved them well (and still do), and I bet they have loved you well also. That seems to count for so much...
