Today is the reveal for the One Crayon Color Challenge, hosted by the extremely talented Sally Russick of The Studio Sublime. The challenge? Choose one color from the palette, illustrated in the tag above, and create a piece of jewelry using a monochromatic theme of that color. My initial thought was to choose Black, but I ended up choosing Blue, because it is my favorite color. I thought that working with my favorite color would give me some advantage. Well...it didn't!!! I took apart...at a minimum...3 completed designs, because they just didn't seem "finished". I know I am not the only person that experiences this dilemma...however, it is frustrating!
Onto the challenge...the first bracelet I made is a multi-strand (6 strands) bracelet, made with luscious lapis, czech glass beads, and etched seed beads.
Onto the challenge...the first bracelet I made is a multi-strand (6 strands) bracelet, made with luscious lapis, czech glass beads, and etched seed beads.
I connected the strands with two silver cones and a hand forged, sterling "S" clasp-you can't tell very well in the picture, but I balled the ends of the wires on the clasp. I wired a sweet little czech glass petal to resemble flower to one of the ends, creating a charm effect.
I really like how this turned out!
For the next bracelet, I used sterling silver and some gorgeous blue lampwork beads by Brenda Scata - these have the most beautiful hues of blue! The beads were encased, further enhancing the colors. I added a few Swarovski crystals and some silver heishi beads to each bead set.
I also made a matched set of earrings.
Thank you to Sally for hosting this great challenge, and to you all for stopping by today! Please be sure to visit the other participants to see their designs, too!
I created little charms with some some small, blue czech glass beads and a few more of the czech petals in between the bead sets, as well.
I also made a matched set of earrings.

Great job with the blue. Lovely bracelets but I love the lampwork piece.
ReplyDeleteYou have created some lovely pieces. My favorite is the lampwork...the color seems to just float through. The matt glass in the multi strand looks so pretty with the clear colors. I love blue!
ReplyDeleteWow Patti! I love blue and find myself using it a lot. You did an amazing job, both pieces are so wonderful and peaceful! Your second piece with the lamp work is my fav!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Blues! Love them!. . . .Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteLove them all - so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMIss Patti these are all very classy pieces but I'm loving that first bracelet - beautiful combination of blue tones and it so fresh and fun to wear - fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh Patti - these are gorgeous! And, it's not just because blue's my favorite color, too - these just shine! I love the clasp in the multi-strand bracelet you created and those lampwork beads in the second one are SWEET!! Very nice designs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Patti.
ReplyDeleteI ended it backing out...too many commitments clouding my creativity. so there's nothing at my blog. next time hopefully.
Beautiful blues.....I love the multi-strand bracelet and the lampwork in the other bracelet is beautiful too. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Patti,
ReplyDeleteYour pieces are beautiful! I like how the first bracelet reminds me of the blue waters of the ocean. Your second bracelet is awesome love the lamp worked beads and the matching earrings too.
Therese
I love your work, and I had the exact same issue in picking my favorite color to work with! You rocked this.
ReplyDeletevery pretty ... I find myself drawn to the first bracelet ... really like how it twists and flows
ReplyDeleteI love both bracelets! The beads are gorgeous, and I love your handmade components! The earrings are darling too.
ReplyDeletePatti, I love what you created with those beautiful blue beads!! I have to laugh because everyone including me thought it would be easy to create in there favorite color and have found that not the case!! You did a fantastic job! I keep going back and looking at the first bracelet, LOVE IT!!! Thank you are taking to time to join me in creating in one crayon color!!!
ReplyDeleteYou really did some lovely things with blue here! Both of those bracelets and the earrings are fantastic. I would wear any of them in a snap!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those are beautiful. I just love the lampworked beads in the second and all the strands in the first.
ReplyDeletePatti, you and I think alike! I bet I would have picked blue as well. Both of your bracelets are so beautiful...but I have to admit I'm especially drawn to the first one. I'm crazy about jewelry with seed beads since I have no idea what to do with them myself. I love the variety of strands and how you finished it off with the pretty silver cones. Well done!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love blue and you picked some really gorgeous beads there! Great designs!
ReplyDeleteI love both sets but my fav is the second I think because of the deep swirls of color in the Lampwork beads. Well done!
ReplyDeleteBoth bracelets are just lovely. I think your use of the bead caps created a stunning bracelet. Great blues.
ReplyDeleteJust love the lampwork beaded bracelet, those blues are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely partial to colour blue - but your designs, Patti, are enhancing the colours beautifully. The charm you made out of the bead petals is simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love blues and have forever, this is so beautiful, I am so glad we are not picking favorites! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bracelets! I love the multiple strands of the first design and how skillfully you showcased the beauty and depth of those lampwork beads with your second design!
ReplyDeleteI love your bracelets! The lampwork beads are so vibrant! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty bracelets -- the multi-strand is so luscious!
ReplyDeletePatti! I love what you've created! The beads in the second bracelet and the earrings are just so beautiful! And I love the colors and textures you've combined for the first bracelet. Wasn't this a fun challenge?
ReplyDeleteYour multi-strand bracelet reminds me of flowing water or ocean waves. Nice combinations of hues and textures! And your focal bead for the second bracelet is simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh your bracelets are beautiful! I love the petal on the top one - what a great little extra :)
ReplyDeleteThe bracelets are gorgeous, the multi-strand one is a perfect design to showcase the color blue! the lampwork bracelet is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey Patti, they are great! Love the lampwork beads!
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty! Great job!
ReplyDeletexo
SUch pretty bracelets! and no, you're definitely not the only one who took their design apart several times. I even photographed mine for my blog, and then went and changed it again!
ReplyDeleteFunny how our favorite color can stump us, I love your work the layers and textures are fantastic and lampwork, love. I am taking the lampworking class at ArtBliss just to see if I can do it:-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous creations!
ReplyDeleteWow fantastic!!! This is also my favorite color but I never use it - no idea why??? Love these but especially the boro bracelet really stunning!
ReplyDeleteI bow down to your mastery of the multi strand, I can NOT get mine to behave like that!
ReplyDeleteStunning bracelets. I love all the little dangles.
ReplyDeleteIf I had those lamp work stunners in my stash I would have selected blue too! You did them right! Gorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteJust hand over all these lovely designs to me right now, ok? LOL Super pretty - great job! I'd wear these all of the time.
